Adult Education

"Community--New Testament Survey" is the title of the adult education class meeting in the library led by Jeannette Eaton. This quarter which goes through November surveys the New Testament from the perspective of Christian community. What did Jesus intend? And how do we find our place in his community? Anyone is welcome to join us.

If you like good discussions come join us every Sunday morning at 9:30 in the lower level of the Meetinghouse. The group will be starting to discuss a different book titled Jesus and Nonviolence by Walter Wink. Here is a paragraph from the back cover.

“More than ever, Walter Wink believes, the Christian tradition of nonviolence is needed as an alternative to the dominant and death-dealing “powers” of our consumerist culture and fractured world. In this small book Wink offers a précis of his whole thinking about this issue, including the relation of Jesus and his message to politics and nonviolence, the history of nonviolent efforts, and how nonviolence can win the day when others don’t hesitate to resort to violence or terror to achieve their aims.”

Church Retreat

I was asked to write a small article about the img096.jpgwonderful weekend at Twin Lakes Camp but, really, how many wonderful things can you say about a wonderful weekend with wonderful people at a wonderful location?

It would be hard to imagine a weekend that comes closer to perfection. The weather was neither too hot nor too cold, the company was first-rate and the food was fantastic.
