Church Retreat

I was asked to write a small article about the img096.jpgwonderful weekend at Twin Lakes Camp but, really, how many wonderful things can you say about a wonderful weekend with wonderful people at a wonderful location?

It would be hard to imagine a weekend that comes closer to perfection. The weather was neither too hot nor too cold, the company was first-rate and the food was fantastic.

All in all, I believe everyone had a good time. Several families arrived on Friday and began their fun early. By Saturday, the number of people had grown to 34. We enjoyed worship, bird watching, horseshoes, volleyball, croquet, board games, water sports, astronomy and just quiet time to rest, read and reflect. Wow! There was something for everyone.
Some of the most important experiences of the weekend were the devotionals. There were several opportunities to worship; each one different and yet each one great. We shared with each other differently than on a regular Sunday morning. It was a time for reflection on how important we are to each other and a time to meet God in His beautiful sur-rounding.
Even before this weekend, I had requests that we make this an every-year-event. My reply was always to the effect that we haven’t gotten through the first one yet. Now that we haimg102.jpgve had such a successful retreat, I feel a little sorry for those who didn’t make it to the camp because they really missed out on something special. Serious thought is being given to setting aside a weekend for next summer.
I want to offer a special thank you to everyone who attended. It took every one of you to make this happen. Everyone helped and that meant everyone also had time to enjoy themselves. Our free-will offering came to $172.00. This should not only cover all of our costs but also put a little into their fund to maintain the camp. You are truly a special group of friends.
